Laura Varela

Laura Varela is an award‑winning filmmaker, artist, and creative producer whose work explores the cultural, political, and spiritual landscapes of the U.S.–Mexico border. Based in San Antonio, she creates documentary films, installations, and social‑practice projects that center Latinx/Chicanx histories and contemporary movements. Her recent work includes American Sons, premiering at SXSW 2025, and she serves as a producer for the VoxFem Network, amplifying global women artists and changemakers.
